Real Madrid Completes the Task and Advances to the Champions League Quarterfinals

Havana, March 17 (RHC) – Real Madrid completed the task against Manchester City today in the second leg of the round of 16 of the European football Champions League, with a 2-1 victory and a brace from Vinicius.

After a solid 3-0 advantage in the first leg, the Spanish club did their job thanks to the Brazilian’s inspired goalscoring prowess, finding the net in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot and again in stoppage time (90+3).

Pep Guardiola’s men never let up and went in search of a comeback; however, a red card for Portuguese player Bernardo Silva (20th minute) thwarted their plans.

Norwegian Erling Haaland managed to beat Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois before halftime, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tie around.

Paris Saint-Germain put on another dominant display, defeating Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the sixth minute, Bradley Barcola (14th), and Senny Mayulu (62nd) reaffirmed their status as title contenders, advancing to the quarterfinals with an 8-2 aggregate score.

Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon also advanced to the next round, defeating Bayer Leverkusen and Bodø/Glimt 2-0 and 5-0, respectively.

The English side drew 1-1 in the first leg and secured the victory on Tuesday with goals from Eberechi Eze in the 36th minute and Declan Rice in the 63rd. The Portuguese team overcame a 3-0 deficit with goals from Gonçalo Inácio in the 34th minute, Pedro Gonçalves in the 61st, Luis Suárez (penalty in the 78th minute), Maximiliano Araújo in the 92nd, and Rafael Nel in stoppage time (120+1).
