Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, has denounced the repeated public threats made by the United States against Cuba, which include declared plans to forcibly overthrow the constitutional order.
In his message—reposted on the Facebook profile of the Communist Party of Cuba—the President underscored that Washington is using internal economic difficulties as a pretext; difficulties that it has itself caused and exacerbated over more than six decades of aggression and isolation measures.
“They seek to seize control of the country, of its resources, and of the economy—which they aim to suffocate in order to force our surrender.”
Díaz-Canel characterized the policy of sanctions as a “ferocious economic war” being waged as a form of collective punishment against the entire Cuban people.
Nevertheless, he affirmed that in the face of any adverse scenario, Cuba holds one certainty: “Any external aggressor will run up against impregnable resistance.”
The message reaffirms the nation’s steadfastness in the face of external pressures, as well as its resolve to defend its sovereignty.
