Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, congratulated the combatants of the State Security Organs on the 67th anniversary of their founding via his Facebook profile.

“I embrace our brave combatants of the State Security Organs, to whom we owe so much, for their defense of the Homeland, almost always anonymous and always risky,” Díaz-Canel expressed.

“Congratulations to the founders, leaders, officers, women, and men whose heroic missions are part of the epic legend of the Cuban Revolution.”

The Cuban government, the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR), and the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) joined in the tribute, also via Facebook, highlighting the loyalty and sacrifice of those who have protected national sovereignty against external aggression, sabotage, and terrorist acts.

March 26, 1959, marked the establishment of the State Security organs, conceived as a shield against attempts to destroy the Revolution.

The leader of the Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, stated at the time: “When enemies persist in challenging the present and future of the Homeland, its conquests and sacred aspirations make the presence of the State Security Organs more indispensable than ever.”

Over six decades, more than one hundred combatants have given their lives in defense of the nation, some on internationalist missions and others in anonymous tasks within counterrevolutionary organizations.

The Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) recalled that “67 years of honor, loyalty, and sacrifice” summarize the history of the security services, born in the heat of the Sierra Maestra and confronted with assassination plots, economic sabotage, invasions, and smear campaigns.

The tribute included recognition of known and unknown agents whose lives have been offered in defense of the sovereignty and integrity of the Revolution, reaffirming the commitment to keep their memory and legacy alive.
