National campaign in France to call for end to the blockade against Cuba

by Ed Newman

Throughout France, the demand for an end to the US blockade against Cuba will resound, with rallies planned in 36 cities as part of the national campaign “Stop the Blockade.”

According to Prensa Latina, demonstrations are planned for this Friday in the cities of Dijon and Gardanne, but most are confirmed for tomorrow, including the one organized in Paris.

These actions in the French capital have been called for by members of parliament and organizations such as France Cuba, Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop), Cuba Linda, and Cuba Si France, the report emphasizes.

Also on Saturday morning and afternoon, events in support of Cuba were announced in Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Le Havre, Lille, and Montpellier.

Meanwhile, in Marseille and Nice, in the south of the country, actions denouncing the US blockade and its impact will take place on Sunday, as will those in Rouen in the north.

The nationwide initiative was called by the French Communist Party (PCF), accompanied by unions and solidarity associations, in rejection of the tightening of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the island, reinforced by an oil embargo decreed on January 29 by the administration of President Donald Trump.
