Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic, attended the opening of the 5th International Patria Colloquium today, which is being held at the Cultural Station on Línea and 18th Streets in Havana, on an iconic date in the nation’s history.
Following a resounding declaration reaffirming Cuban socialism in the face of threats from the United States government, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba joined with journalists, intellectuals, and media professionals from 25 countries who, through their presence, are also expressing their solidarity with the island.
Attendees included members of the Political Bureau of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, and Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with other Party leaders and representatives from the Union of Journalists of Cuba.
The Patria Colloquium, dedicated to Fidel Castro in the year of his centennial, includes an intensive program of discussions on the media landscape, specialized workshops, conferences, and panels.
Before the opening, Díaz-Canel visited some of the booths of the participating media organizations and greeted the exhibitors.
