Statement from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in support of “My Signature for the Homeland”

by Ed Newman

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) reiterates its strongest and most unconditional support for the Cuban civil society movement “My Signature for the Homeland” / “Mi firma por la Patria” — an initiative in response to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the #UnitedStates, as well as the smear campaigns, media attacks and ongoing hybrid warfare.

Within the framework of the celebrations for the victory at #PlayaGirón and the reaffirmation of the socialist character of the Revolution, the defense of the #Homeland once again constitutes a point of unity in reaffirming sovereignty and the inalienable principle of national unity, as #Cuba’s greatest strength in the face of external pressures.

There is no doubt that, by signing this document, we Cuban citizens are exercising our right and fulfilling our constitutional duty to defend the nation, while strengthening national unity by forging a united front against disinformation. This document constitutes a tool of political communication that reflects the Cuban people’s commitment to peace and exposes the campaigns that seek to distort our reality.

Therefore, considering the adverse international context in which we find ourselves, marked by media manipulation, the increasingly aggressive threats from the U.S. administration, and the intensified economic, commercial, and financial blockade, exacerbated by an unprecedented oil embargo in U.S.-Cuba relations, we call upon the entire #SolidarityWithCuba Movement worldwide to strengthen actions in support of the Cuban Revolution, its inalienable right to self-determination and the defense of peace.

We reiterate once again the words of our President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the event commemorating the 65th anniversary of the declaration of the socialist character of our Revolution this April 16th, when he said: Cuba is not a failed state; Cuba is a besieged state, Cuba is a state facing multidimensional aggression: economic warfare, an intensified blockade, and an energy blockade. Cuba is a threatened state that will not surrender! And despite everything, and thanks to socialism, Cuba is a state that resists, creates, and, make no mistake, a state that will prevail!

Hasta la victoria siempre!   Ever onward to victory!

Patria o Muerte!   Venceremos!   Homeland or Death!   We will win!
