Cuban foreign minister questions diplomatic security in the United States

by Ed Newman

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez questioned diplomatic security in the United States, recalling the attack against his country’s embassy in Washington, DC, six years ago, a case that remains unsolved.

On the social network X, Bruno Rodríguez recalled that on April 30, 2020, a terrorist fired 32 rounds from his AK-47 rifle at his country’s embassy “with the declared intention of hitting anything in front of him, including people.”

The case in the United States remains unsolved, which “raises doubts about diplomatic security in the US capital,” the head of Cuban diplomacy stated in the post.

Expanding on the matter, the Cuban foreign minister stated that this is part of the well-known history of the U.S. government protecting and supporting notorious terrorists who live, organize, and receive funding on U.S. soil to carry out terrorist acts against the Caribbean nation.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, April 30, 2020, at approximately 2:10 a.m. local time, an individual fired shots at the Cuban Embassy and Mission on NW 16th Street near NW Fuller Street.

No personnel at the mission were harmed and are safe, but the building sustained material damage from the gunfire, the Cuban Foreign Ministry specified at the time.

In initial reactions, the incident was described as a “hate crime.” The reality is that it was an act of terrorism, declared the Cuban foreign minister.
