Cuban foreign minister denounces U.S. aggression in interview with ABC

by Ed Newman

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, denounced in an interview with ABC the multidimensional aggression the island faces from the United States government, which is causing serious harm to the population.

According to the foreign minister, speaking on X, he elaborated on Washington’s policy toward Havana, which is particularly evident in the energy embargo and the Executive Order with secondary coercive measures issued on May 1st.

The head of Cuban diplomacy also reiterated his country’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States government, always based on respect for sovereignty and self-determination.

The US media outlet reported that during the interview this Thursday, Bruno Rodríguez also warned of the continued threats of military intervention on the island, which, he noted, could lead to a bloodbath in Cuba.

The Executive Order issued on May 1st targets any person or entity, foreign or U.S., operating in strategic sectors of the Cuban economy, including energy, defense, mining and financial services.

Just six days later, as the first coercive measure stemming from the order, the US Treasury Department added the Cuban entities Gaesa and MoaNickel S.A. to the Specially Designated Nationals List.

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the measure will further hinder the functioning of the national economy, which has already been facing the devastating effects of the oil embargo since January 29, 2016, paralyzing fuel exports to the country.
