Havana, May 8 (RHC) – The Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons are currently leading 2-0 in their respective NBA semifinal series after defeating the Lakers and Cavaliers on Thursday.
Last year’s NBA champions and current Western Conference leaders defeated LeBron James’ team 125-107 at home.
The Thunder’s offense was led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 22 points, the same number as Chet Holmgren, who also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out three assists.
For the Lakers, who will now travel to their home court looking to mount a comeback and take the top spot in the Western Conference, Austin Reaves (31 points) and LeBron James (23 points) were the standout performers.
In the other semifinal game played last night, the Detroit Pistons also took advantage of playing at home to gain a lead in the series, defeating the Cavaliers 107-97.
Cade Cunningham, with 25 points, three rebounds, and ten assists, was joined by Tobias Harris, who added 21 points and seven rebounds, leading the winners. This overshadowed the 31 points scored by the visiting Donovan Mitchell.
Both playoff series will resume on Saturday. Today, the New York Knicks will face Philadelphia (2-0 in their series), and San Antonio will play Minnesota (1-1).
