The Imperial Order to kill the Cuban people without bullets

by Ed Newman

The United States government has reinforced its lines of fire against the Cuban people, even without firing a shot, following the signing of the May 1st executive order that intensifies the collective punishment.

On the same day that more than five million people took to the streets across the island to express their desire for peace and their rejection of the war and the blockade, Washington announced another turn of the screw in the policy of total suffocation.

It was an act of signature against signature.  Here, the auditable data was published showing that 6,230,973 people signed the document “My Signature for the Homeland,” and there, the genocidal text was displayed with imperial credentials, which, in Pythagorean terms, is equivalent to a blockade squared. Or triple, or quadruple.

The most recent executive decision ratifies, without masks or diplomatic embellishments, the order to fire point-blank at an entire people with bullets that kill just the same, but little by little: by cutting off access to international resources essential for survival.

The current administration has reinterpreted, like no other before, the foundations upon which the economic, commercial, and financial blockade was established more than 60 years ago, and is applying iron patches wherever it sees cracks.

On January 29, the White House occupant signed another executive order with the genocidal purpose of discouraging fuel sales to the island, under the guise of a supposed national emergency, which no one has been able to substantiate with arguments.

But that measure fell short of hegemonic expectations, given the resilience of a people who know the price of independence and only aspire to live in peace and in an atmosphere of respect with all their neighbors.

On May 1st, the emperor issued another document of equal executive rank and the same objective: to try to derail Cuba’s sovereign course as quickly as possible.

Given the scope of the text, no one doubts that it was prepared well in advance, probing every avenue of collective punishment to treacherously shield it. Its reach is limitless. No one escapes a possible unilateral, arbitrary, and unannounced sanction, whether American or foreign, and it even has retroactive effect, which increases its intimidating nature.

Even those who send medicine or resources to ensure energy in hospitals could be subject to sanctions, given the policy applied by the United States against Cuba: the genocidal end justifies the means.

The world must know that the greatest empire known to humankind has redoubled its fire with seemingly invisible, yet highly lethal bullets against the people of a neighboring island that has never posed a threat to the great power.
