Cuban Embassy in the U.S. denounces falsehoods spread by Fox News

by Ed Newman

The Cuban Embassy in the United States on Wednesday rejected the publications by Fox News, which began on May 21st, regarding alleged activities by the diplomatic mission and its officials that would interfere in the internal affairs of that country.

In an official statement released through its Facebook profile, the diplomatic mission affirmed that such accusations “are absolutely unfounded and are part of a defamatory campaign promoted by the U.S. government.”

The Cuban representation emphasized that “the Cuban Embassy and all its officials strictly adhere to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations in the performance of their functions and activities.”

The statement added that the diplomats “also respect the laws and regulations of the United States,” in response to the accusations published by the American media outlet.

The statement noted that “the appreciation for Cuba held by millions of Americans and the opposition of many of them to their government’s ongoing aggression, and even military threats, against Cuba, are being intimidated by these baseless and completely unjustified accusations.”

The Cuban diplomatic mission in the United States reiterated that it will continue to fulfill its duties in accordance with international law and the norms established in the host country.
