The governments of Cuba and Grenada have signed two memoranda of understanding in Grenada aimed at expanding cooperation in education.
The agreements cover special education and the “Yes, I Can” literacy project, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed on its website.
Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz signed the documents on behalf of Cuba, highlighting that these initiatives are part of the Caribbean island’s commitment to solidarity and its dedication to human development in Grenada.
Representing the Grenadian government were the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Education, Lorraine St. Louis Nedd and Elvis Morain, who emphasized the importance of these agreements in addressing the specific needs of the population and ensuring inclusive learning opportunities.
The officials noted that collaboration with Cuba is a cornerstone of the national human resources development strategy.
During the ceremony, both parties agreed that the signing of these memoranda opens new avenues for joint projects, both in teacher training and in the application of methodologies proven in Cuba and other Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The signing of these agreements coincides with the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
For decades, Cuba has contributed to education and professional development in Grenada, supporting generations of young people in their academic preparation.
