At the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya, the speedy closer from Pinar del Río allowed a scoreless hit in one inning of relief and now has eight saves in eight consecutive outings.
With this commendable performance, Raidel improved his ERA to 1.33 and moved within one save of the Central League’s ERA leader: Shinya Matsuyama of the Chunichi Dragons.
Furthermore, he is closing in on his career high of 43 saves on the Japanese circuit, achieved last season as a member of the Dragons, to whom he applied the “law of the ex” this Saturday.
