Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, attended the awards ceremony for members of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) on its 66th anniversary.

The ceremony paid tribute to the legacy of Vilma Espín and the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

The Cuban president bestowed the Honorary Title of Heroine of Labor of the Republic upon women in recognition of their extraordinary revolutionary and professional careers spanning more than five decades of dedication to the organization and the country.

Accompanied by Political Bureau members Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization; and Teresa Amarelle Boué, General Secretary of the FMC, among other Political Bureau members, representatives of the Party, the Government, and social and mass organizations.

The commemoration, which evoked the figure of the eternal President of the FMC, highlights the organization’s role as a fundamental pillar of Cuban society and reaffirms the call to continue building the Revolution with the firmness and love bequeathed by Fidel and Vilma.
