Havana, September 8 (RHC) – Today, Cuba defeated Aruba 8-5 in the third round of the U-15 Pan American Baseball Championship, which brings together four teams in the Dominican Republic.
Alexander Urquiola’s team displayed offensive dominance and capitalized on scoring opportunities to secure their first victory of the tournament, which grants only one ticket to the World Cup in this category.
Aruba tried to fight back, but the Cuban pitching controlled their opponents, and the Caribbean team remained ahead throughout.
With this victory, Cuba secures third place in the Championship.
Cuban Joseph Lenier Arias pitched excellently, pitching six and two-thirds innings.
The Dominican Republic defeated Cuba 9-8 in the tournament opener last Saturday. The score remained close throughout, resulting in a balanced game in which both teams demonstrated strong pitching and defense.
Cuba also lost 8-2 to Puerto Rico the previous day.
