Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has rejected U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statements regarding Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro, calling them “disrespectful lies.”
The foreign minister stated in a message on the social network X that Rubio’s statements are intended to justify military actions in the Caribbean region. Bruno Rodríguez denounced that Washington “is trying to repeat the old and well-known U.S. strategy of creating false pretexts” to intervene in regional affairs.
The Cuban government has strongly expressed its rejection of the U.S. naval and air deployment in the Caribbean Sea, calling it a dangerous act that threatens regional peace.
Recently, the president of the Caribbean nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel, emphasized that Latin America and the Caribbean must remain a nuclear-weapon-free zone of peace, and urged the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States to defend these achievements in the face of the U.S. military deployment in the region.
