Havana, November 6 (RHC) – The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, today presented his candidacy for the presidency of the (ANCO) for the period 2026–2030, thanks to the support of numerous countries.
The ANOC, or Association of National Olympic Committees, will elect the successor to Fijian Robin Mitchell at its General Assembly in Hong Kong on December 7 and 8. Under the banner ABC—Alejandro Blanco for ANOC—the Spanish Olympic Committee president is putting his experience, communication skills, and management expertise at the service of a project to strengthen the voice of the NOCs, facilitate the support they need, and transform their priorities into concrete actions and results.
The campaign was launched this Friday through the website blancoforanoc.com and a video, available in Spanish, English, and French, featuring Blanco.
In the video, he explains his connection to sports, the daily responsibilities of presiding over a National Olympic Committee, and the commitment he wants to make to all ANOC members.
According to a statement released by his team, the former Spanish judoka is promoting an internationally focused initiative that respects the identity and needs of each National Olympic Committee.
The video connects Alejandro Blanco’s journey with the work that supports every sporting achievement: the people who believe in the athletes, the teams that support them, and the decisions that create opportunities.
“I know that responsibility. I’ve lived it as head of the Spanish Olympic Committee since September 2005,” Blanco stated in his message.
Based on that experience, the candidacy proposes an ANOC that combines institutional representation with practical support, protects the autonomy of its members, and facilitates more opportunities for athletes, both in their training and development.
“I want to preside over ANOC with your support and put my experience, knowledge, and dedication at the service of all National Olympic Committees,” he concluded.
