Havana, September 17 (RHC) – On September 20 and 21, the Russian capital will host the 12th Moscow Marathon, which will bring together nearly 50,000 athletes from 65 countries, the multinational channel TVBrics announced today.
According to the report, a record number of athletes have registered this year, including marathoners from India, Kenya, China, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Belarus, Ethiopia, South Africa, and other countries, who are vying for the competition’s prizes.
The races will be held with the support of the Moscow government and the city’s Department of Sports.
The Moscow Marathon is part of the BRICS Marathon League series. This year, more than 1,800 people will run as part of the third stage of the series, five times more than last year. More than 3,000 runners will participate for the second time. All of them will receive special prizes.
On the first day, September 20th, a 10-kilometer race will be held, and on September 21st, the 42.2-kilometer marathon distance will be run, along with corporate and student relays. A separate children’s race will be held for participants between the ages of four and 13.
The Moscow Marathon traditionally features a diverse additional program. A major sports exhibition will be held during the event, showcasing the latest developments in running equipment and nutrition.
Educational conferences and business meetings are held for the professional community. Special attention is paid to the development of children’s sports, with races organized for different age groups and a full program of support.
