Ousmane Dembélé: the New Ballon d’Or Winner

by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, September 22 (RHC) – Under the golden lights of the Théâtre du Châtelet, Ousmane Dembélé wrote his most brilliant chapter today by winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or, accompanied by an ovation that resonated all the way to the banks of the Seine.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker took home the top award after leading his club to a near-flawless season, winning the Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France, leaving only the Club World Cup in sight.

His ability to unbalance defenders, his speed, and his vision made him the standard-bearer of a PSG team that dominated Europe and a key player for the French national team.

The gala was hosted by Ruud Gullit, a Dutch and international football legend, Ballon d’Or winner in 1987 and two-time Champions League winner with AC Milan, accompanied by British journalist Kate Scott, a regular feature on CBS Sports’ Champions League broadcasts alongside Thierry Henry.

Ronaldinho, a PSG and Barcelona idol, was in charge of presenting the award, a decision that kept the suspense until the very last second as the two favorites, Dembélé and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, faced off.

The evening, filled with elegance and excitement, paid tribute to the Frenchman’s electric football and a career that found its definitive recognition this season.

The applause from former stars and the excitement of the home fans gave the evening an air of coronation, as if Paris had confirmed its new king.
