Díaz-Canel: Cuba defeated the blockade again

by Ed Newman

“A dignified, resilient Cuba, without any fear of the turbulent, brutal, cynical, and lying empire, has once again defeated the six-decade-long genocidal blockade,” declared Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today, following the Caribbean nation’s victory at the United Nations.

Through his Twitter account, the president asserted that the crude Yankee pressure managed to break a few, but the majority of the world once again voted alongside Cuba for life.

“A victory for Cuba, for the people, and for truth against imperialist lies,” declared Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

#Cuba, dignified, resilient, without any fear of the turbulent, brutal, cynical, and deceitful empire, once again defeated the six-decade-long #GenocidalBlockade.

The Cuban foreign minister thanked the countries that, with their vote, defended the truth and once again demanded an end to the United States blockade against the Cuban people.

With 165 votes in favor, the Caribbean nation achieved another victory this Wednesday against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. more than 60 years ago.

The debate sessions this Tuesday foreshadowed a victory backed by the international community.

This is the 33rd consecutive time the General Assembly has voted on the draft resolution demanding an end to this policy, which has been rejected by the majority of member states.

Since 1992, Cuba has received almost unanimous support in this annual vote.
