The first members of the solidarity and volunteer work brigade “65th Anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP)” have begun arriving in Havana, where the contingent will participate in the anniversary program dedicated to Fidel Castro, the institution’s founder.
In total, the brigade members will number 120, from 22 nations in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, and North America. They will carry out a two-week program starting next Monday, the 22nd, staying at the “Julio Antonio Mella” International Camp located in Caimito.
The activists will participate in the special program for ICAP’s anniversary, which includes a panel discussion on the Commander-in-Chief and solidarity on December 27; the presentation of the book “The Peoples of the World, Always with Cuba,” about the Institute’s history; and the unveiling of a commemorative stamp.
The brigade, convened under the slogan “65 Years of Love for Cuba,” has scheduled a volunteer work marathon for the 28th—which will be extended throughout the country by the Institute’s delegations—as well as attendance on the 29th at the main ICAP anniversary event alongside other solidarity groups from various countries.
On December 22nd, Teacher’s Day, the contingent will be inaugurated with an event at the Grandes Alamedas School in Caimito, while the following day they will join the people of Artemisa in the provincial celebration of the anniversary of the Revolution’s triumph.
The friends will also attend conferences on the challenges facing the Cuban economy and Cuba-United States relations; and participate in agricultural work. They will celebrate the arrival of January 1st and enjoy a special performance by the National Ballet of Cuba dedicated to the revolutionary victory and the 65th anniversary of ICAP.
