Cuba is not alone. Let them hear it in Washington and in every office where the blockade is planned: Cuba is not alone and never will be, posted Manu Pineda, political activist and former member of the Spanish Parliament, on his Facebook page after learning of Donald Trump’s executive order against the island this Thursday.
For almost 70 years, Cuba has been where others looked the other way, with doctors when healthcare was lacking, with teachers when there was no future, with dignity when justice was lacking. Cuba has shared what it had, and what it lacked, and the peoples of the world remember, affirmed the member of the Communist Party of Spain.
Friends of Cuba around the world joined today in total rejection of Trump’s latest threat, following his signing of the executive order that establishes, effective immediately, the imposition of “additional tariffs on goods imported into the United States from any other country that, directly or indirectly, sells or supplies oil to Cuba.”
The Association of Cubans Residing in Mexico also spoke out against this unilateral coercive measure on social media, calling for a public protest this coming Sunday at noon in front of the former U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.
In other posts published on social media, several users shared the news that Claudia Sheinbaum, president of Mexico, announced that her country will seek alternatives to support Cuba without compromising the national economy. She emphasized that the priority is to avoid a humanitarian crisis that could overwhelm hospitals and basic services on the island.
Statements by Vasily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, warn the Trump administration that it should not expect anything easy in Cuba if it plans a military intervention.
Meanwhile, from Cuba, Israel Rojas, leader of the popular group Buena Fe, issued a statement reflecting the sovereignty of the Caribbean nation and its will to defend it.
“Cuba carries in its blood the sacred fire of those who dreamed of a nation standing tall. There is no oppressive force that can overcome the moral rock of a people determined to prevail or die trying. We will remain standing until final victory crowns our efforts,” the singer-songwriter expressed.
