The Internationalist Solidarity Association AsiCubaUmbria, with over three decades of history alongside the Cuban Revolution, has issued a strong appeal to parliamentarians in Italy and Europe, city councilors, journalists, and citizens’ associations in response to the escalation of the US blockade.
The new offensive launched by the Trump administration seeks to completely prevent oil from reaching the island, under threat of sanctions against any exporting country. This measure, they denounce, would leave Cuba without electricity, paralyzing hospitals, schools, and homes: “A plan of total strangulation, until death,” they warn.
The text describes the oil blockade as genocide, state terrorism, and a crime against humanity, as it violates the Geneva Convention and international law. “The real message is for the world: the right to sovereignty and autonomy,” they affirm.
AsiCubaUmbria calls for raising awareness in the face of the media war and for defending Cuba as a defense of all peoples.
URGENT APPEAL: CUBA SENTENCED TO DEATH

The Trump administration, after its assault on Venezuela, where it intends to control oil extraction and marketing, after its threats against Mexico, Cuba’s oil supplier, following the seizure of Russian and Chinese tankers, is now moving toward a total blockade: no oil should reach Cuba, from any exporting country, which, by defying the blackmail, would be subjected to sanctions.
This means leaving the country without electricity, in the dark: hospitals, homes, schools… a plan of total strangulation, until death.
IT IS AN ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL ATTACK, with the ridiculous justification that Cuba is “an unusual and extraordinary threat… to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.”
LEGAL AND HUMANITARIAN IMPLICATIONS: A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
A total oil blockade is equivalent to:
Genocide, according to the Geneva Convention: the deliberate objective of “inflicting on a national group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction.”
State terrorism: the use of energy as a weapon against the population.
Economic piracy: interference in the legitimate trade of third countries.
THE REAL MESSAGE IS FOR THE WORLD, NOT JUST FOR CUBA. IT IS THE RIGHT TO SOVEREIGNTY AND AUTONOMY.
The U.S. government seeks to punish a dignified country that refuses to bow to threats and defends its independence and sovereignty.
It seeks to restore its former obedience (in fact, it has already chosen Marco Rubio as its next president!).
WE DEMAND A STRONG VOICE BE RAISED against this indecent and inhumane affront to international law and the right to life of Cubans.
