The book “Marco Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac” was presented this Monday in Santiago de Chile, by former mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue, and prominent politician and human rights defender Hugo Gutiérrez, former deputy for the Communist Party of Chile.

This second edition of “Marco Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac,” published by Ventana Abierta, is a collaboration between the Varsot Foundation and Resumen Latinoamericano. It offers a vision of solidarity with Cuba through the political culture of peoples in resistance.

The literary work, written by Cuban journalist and researcher Hedelberto López Blanch — published for the first time in Havana by Resumen Latinoamericano — exposes the origins and murky evolution of the political career of the current White House Secretary of State.

A distinguished panel, led by Daniel Jadue and Hugo Gutiérrez, contextualized the author’s narrative through sociopolitical theories that explain the methodology of imperialism in sustaining its existence through the tools it now wields with impunity, disregarding the fact that these tools entail the subjugation of nations to the increasingly aggressive foreign policy of the United States.

The rise of Rubio as Secretary of State — of Cuban descent — in this new Trump era is marked by constant threats of intervention in Cuba and an increasingly aggressive policy toward its economy, which today profoundly affects the daily lives of Cuban families.

“Rubio is a perverse being,” declared Daniel Jadue, analyzing historical figures who commit horrendous crimes, products of the capitalist system’s ambition to maintain power—”devoid of ethics and morality”—and promoted by the logic of the capitalist market.

This second edition of “Marco Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac” features the excellent prologue, “The Useful Mythomaniac and the Machinery of Hate.” This rigorous analysis, written by Daniel Jadue himself, draws on social and political science.

“Marx put it with a starkness that still unsettles: capital arrives ‘dripping with blood and mud,’” Jadue quoted. This perfectly describes Marco Rubio’s logic, and he “has become its best exponent; no one ‘kills’; processes are optimized, orders are followed, protocols are executed,” the former mayor explained.

Daniel Jadue quoted excerpts from the prologue written by Cuban historian René González in the book’s first edition.

“That’s why René González, in the prologue to the first edition, opens with a phrase that contains the key to the entire book: ‘It could well have been titled “Marco Rubio, a Man of His Time.”‘ And he concludes: ‘of the worst of his time.'”

Jadue considered that phrase more than a literary flourish, “as the book progresses, it transforms into a historical warning.”

Because when politics rots, lies become the primary method and weapon, and when the system of domination rewards that method, it becomes a career path.”

During the presentation—at Odisea Libros Bookstore—greetings from Havana were projected from the author, Hedelberto López Blanch, and Graciela Ramírez Cruz, producer of the first edition of “Marco Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac” and head of the Resumen Latinoamericano bureau in Cuba.

From Havana, messages reflected immense gratitude to Varsot, Daniel Jadue, and Hugo Gutiérrez for publishing a necessary text that describes the psycho-criminal origins of Trump’s right-hand man.

“Infinite thanks to Varsot, to this foundation that has helped Cuba enormously, precisely at this time when it needs it so much, and thank you for this publication,” expressed Graciela Ramírez.

“This book is the political and moral anatomy of a monstrous creature; that is Marco Rubio,” stated the prominent Argentine-Spanish activist, quoting the words of Abel Prieto, president of Casa de las Américas. “A man full of hatred, full of lust for power and greed, who, in circumstances as terrible as those the Cuban Revolution is experiencing as a result of the blockade, calls for more suffocation,” she denounced in her message of gratitude.

“Rubio wants to deliver the final blow to the Cuban revolutionary project, and from here, from this resistance without electricity, with very little internet connection, limited in medicine, food, and the things needed for daily life to function in a country—we are severely limited, terribly limited.  I can assure you with absolute certainty that this people will triumph.”

Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac was scheduled to be presented in a second Cuban edition—produced by Resumen Latinoamericano and Ciencias Sociales—of over a thousand copies at the 33rd Havana International Book Fair.   The renowned literary event was postponed due to the current energy crisis on the island, a consequence of the oil embargo imposed by Trump and his anti-Cuban puppet in power, a product of the United States’ warmongering interests.
