Cuba remembers the Reverend Lucius Walker on anniversary of his passing

Lucius Walker

Fifteen years after the passing of Reverend Lucius Walker, the Cuban people remember him as a brother dedicated to the well-being of the poor.

The soldier against inequality died on September 7, 2010, at the age of 80, the victim of a massive heart attack.

A notable friend of the Cuban nation, Walker promoted 21 Friendship Caravans from 1992 until his death, organized by Pastors for Peace as a way to circumvent the commercial, economic, and financial blockade imposed on the island by the U.S. government.

The Reverend Lucius Walker is also recognized for his tireless battle for the freedom of the Five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters then imprisoned in the United States.  He was one of the founders of the Interfaith Foundation for Community Organization, founded in 1967, and also Associate General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States.

Lucius Walker stood out in all areas for his defense of the Cuban Revolution, making it his own from the very beginning.  He was not only a pastor for peace, but a man who firmly embraced the cause of a better world.
