Habana, October 22 (RHC) – The Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee confirmed today the sanction imposed on FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who will miss next weekend’s match against Real Madrid.
Flick was sent off last Saturday for a second yellow card in the Barcelona-Girona match, which ended in a nerve-wracking 2-1 victory for Barcelona.
The expulsion, for protesting, according to referee Gil Manzano’s report, carried a one-match ban, which was upheld this Wednesday by the Competition Committee.
However, the Catalan club is confident of overturning the decision and will continue to pursue other legal proceedings.
The Catalan club will appeal to the Appeals Committee, and if the sanction is upheld, will go to the Administrative Court of Sport (CAS) to defend its coach, arguing that the second yellow card was a misunderstanding with the referee, who has a record of 10 expulsions against Barcelona.
Barcelona will visit Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu next Sunday on Matchday 10 of the Spanish Football League.
Madrid leads the competition with 24 points, two ahead of the Catalans.
