China has reiterated its firm opposition to foreign interference in Cuba’s affairs and emphasized the Asian giant’s support for the island.
“I would like to reiterate that China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian.
Speaking in Beijing, he also categorically rejected “any inhumane actions or practices that deprive the Cuban people of their right to survival and development.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesman indicated that China will continue to provide support and assistance to Cuba.
For two consecutive days this week, the Foreign Ministry declared its firm stance alongside the Caribbean nation amid the intensified blockade and economic strangulation measures imposed by the United States. In addition to emphasizing this support, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi last week praised the tenacious struggle and courage of the Cuban people in their challenge to hegemony, as well as the international respect earned by the island.
