Havana, 25 January (RHC) – The Cuba-Jordan boxing match held at the iconic Rafael Trejo Hall in this city resulted in three victories for each side.
The Cuban team’s winners included Paris 2024 Olympic champion Erislandy Álvarez (65 kg) and Tashkent 2023 world silver medalist Saidel Horta (60 kg).
The other Cuban victory came from Giovis Salfrán (55 kg), while Jesús Álvarez (50 kg), Keilor García (80 kg), and Yunier Sorsano (70 kg) suffered defeats. Sorsano lost to Zeyad Eashash, the bronze medalist at the Liverpool 2025 World Championships.
National commissioner Robinson Poll highlighted the intensity of the bouts, conceived as part of a training camp marked by high-level competition in several weight classes.
This was the second encounter between the Cuban and African teams, following the match held last Tuesday in the Havana neighborhood of San Francisco de Paula, which resulted in a 7-1 victory for the hosts.
In that match, Eashash defeated Leonis Thomas 3-0, securing the only win for his team, meaning he has emerged victorious in both encounters.
