Cuba commemorates International Education Day

by Ed Newman

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez commemorated International Education Day today with a post on the social network X.

“We reiterate Cuba’s commitment to free, universal, and inclusive education, and to the respect, promotion, and protection of this fundamental human right for the development of humanity,” Rodríguez stated.

“It is unacceptable that 244 million young people worldwide are still out of school and 617 million children and adolescents cannot read or have basic math skills,” the Foreign Minister added.

The head of Cuban diplomacy also emphasized the need to strengthen this right as a means to promote a culture of peace, understanding, and non-discrimination.
