The Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, commemorated World Health Day on social media.
“The theme for World Health Day 2026 is ‘Together for Health. Let’s take care of science.’ This is precisely what Cuba does despite the blockade.”
And on this date in 1948, the World Health Organization, the WHO, was established. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group.
The World Health Organization works to fight communicable diseases, including the coronavirus, HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis; the mitigation of the effects of non-communicable diseases; sexual and reproductive health, development, and aging; nutrition and food security.
The World Health Organization celebrates its 74th birthday today… and every April 7th marks the celebration of World Health Day.
The island commemorates this day by reaffirming its commitment to the care of its people. Despite the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, it continues its efforts to care for every patient and maintains its spirit of solidarity.
