Cuba denounces cyberattack against PDVSA

by Ed Newman

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has denounced a recent cyberattack against the state-owned oil company Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), aimed at halting its operations.

Through the social media platform X, Cuba’s foreign minister stated that such actions are part of the psychological warfare and increased pressure from the United States government to overthrow the Venezuelan government.

“We denounce the cyberattack against PDVSA, aimed at paralyzing the operations of this important institution in #Venezuela.”

This Monday, the company reported the attack in a statement, asserting that the “attempted aggression is part of the US government’s public strategy to seize Venezuelan oil through force and piracy.”

It specified that its operational areas were unaffected, allowing it to continue regular activities in supplying products to the domestic market, as well as fulfilling all its export commitments.
