Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has denounced that the smear campaign against Cuban medical cooperation is part of the current measures of the United States government and its cognitive warfare strategy.
On the social network X, the Foreign Minister highlighted that a recent analysis by the Cubadebate Media Observatory dismantles an “investigation” that, under the guise of neutrality, attempts to present itself as proof of alleged manipulation by the Cuban state regarding its health cooperation.
Rodríguez underscored the double standard applied in Western discourse: while the Cuban government’s information efforts are labeled as “manipulation,” campaigns promoted by Western governments, private foundations, or entities funded by Washington are framed as a legitimate expression of “civil society.”
Cuba’s top diplomat also noted that when citizens share content favorable to Cuba on social media, they are labeled “digital troops,” while those who orchestrate hostile campaigns against the island are portrayed as “freedom activists.”
According to figures from the Ministry of Public Health, more than 605,000 Cuban healthcare professionals have served on missions in 165 countries over the past 60 years.
Their achievements in the fight against Ebola in Africa, blindness in Latin America and the Caribbean, cholera in Haiti, and the COVID-19 pandemic are particularly noteworthy.
