Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his gratitude on Friday for the solidarity shown to Cuba amidst the energy blockade imposed by the US government.
In his message on the social network X, the foreign minister highlighted the importance of the material aid received, a relief for the Cuban people who are suffering the harsh effects of Washington’s embargo.
Solidarity cannot be blocked and demonstrates its value in the face of the genocidal US policy, stated the head of diplomacy on the island.
The Russian oil tanker Anatoly Kolodkin arrived in Cuba on Tuesday, carrying an estimated 100,000 metric tons of crude oil. According to the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines, this shipment will sustain the operation of the national electricity grid and other economic activities for approximately 10 days.
In response, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that his country considers it its duty not to stand idly by and to provide necessary assistance to its Cuban friends.
“The desperate situation in which the Cuban people now find themselves cannot, of course, leave us indifferent, and we will continue working on this issue,” he added.
