Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted Cuba’s election to the United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for the term beginning in 2027.
On the social media platform X, the island’s foreign minister noted that the Caribbean nation was elected by acclamation to the Committee, which belongs to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and will serve as a member from 2027 to 2030.
This election result, Bruno Rodríguez emphasized, recognizes Cuba’s record in promoting the participation of genuine non-governmental organizations from all regions in the work of the United Nations.
Established by ECOSOC in 1946, the Committee is composed of 19 members elected on the basis of equitable geographical representation.
