Cuba: No Forgiveness for Collaboration

Today we discuss the attempted genocide, the energy-driven campaign to starve the Cuban people into submission, orchestrated by the neo-fascist administration of Trump and Rubio. But we also discuss the numerous initiatives denouncing and showing solidarity with Cuba, such as the “Let Cuba Live” movement, launched from within the US itself, supported by thousands of people from the arts, academia, and politics, including Susan Sarandon, Mark Ruffalo, Alice Walker, and Roger Waters.

We reviewed some excellent texts on the situation, such as the article by Chilean activist and politician Daniel Jadue, who tells us that in Cuba there is “a silent genocide, disguised as legality, sustained by the dollar mafia and the complicity of international organizations that, with honorable exceptions, maintain a shameful silence in the face of this ongoing aggression. What value does international law have, then, if economic power can trample it with impunity? This is the great hypocrisy of the capitalist world-system: human rights are only valuable when they serve the interests of capital; sovereignty is respected only when it does not threaten the business of imperialism. As Latin Americans, as peoples of the Global South, we have the inescapable duty to raise our voices and denounce this crime. Symbolic solidarity is not enough: we must demand the immediate end of the blockade, expose its lies, build cooperative relationships with Cuba from our local and national governments, and boycott the policies of the empire wherever we can.”

In contrast to hitmen and murderous thugs like the Florida congressmen, called “Cuban Americans” but who have never set foot in Cuba, there are honest and kind-hearted people all over the world. In contrast to the poisoned soul of Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, who incited people “Not to travel to Cuba” because “there is no electricity, no food, no medicine, only blackouts, hunger, and repression,” we read a Facebook post from a Canadian who says: “Don’t abandon the Cuban people now, don’t cancel your trip to Cuba. Cuba needs tourism, and by not going to Cuba and massively suppressing the media hysteria that has been created, which does not reflect the reality on the ground, you are devastating its economy. All other sectors, including public health, agriculture, industrial production, small businesses, etc., benefit directly from tourism from Canada. Tourism was on track to reach its goal of 1.2 million Canadian visitors until the Canadian government issued a yellow travel alert (at the same level as Mexico and the Dominican Republic), probably at the behest of the United States, claiming that Cuba is not a stable country. It is safer than anywhere else. Canadians: Now is the time to disobey the threats and threats emboldened by the United States and Travel to Cuba to support the Cuban people and their economy!

We will also discuss the mercenary activity and collaboration with the genocide perpetrated by a powerful nation against its own country by the group known as “El4tico,” who have tried to portray themselves as “repressed by the regime.” They are enemies of the Cuban people for applauding Trump’s policies against the island in this current situation. Michel E. Torres Corona said on Facebook: “Our National Assembly of People’s Power should consider a special law that prescribes sanctions for anyone who denies the ongoing attempt at genocide implied by the intensified blockade imposed by the current US administration, and that also prohibits the use of slogans or clothing related to Trumpism (which even the liberal US press unequivocally associates with a rise in neo-fascism). Supporting Mr. Trump and his lackeys should be considered treason, not only because of their reactionary values but also because of the explicit threat this imperialist regime poses to the security of our nation and our people.”

Raúl Palmero, in turn, recounted: “At the Pedro Kourí Institute (IPK), something happened that shocked me: near the hemodialysis unit, doctors and nursing staff were searching for alternatives with their patients and the taxi service, which the Cuban state provides free of charge to people with kidney failure, to ensure the continuity of their treatments. These are some of the direct effects of the total fuel blockade decreed by the Mandarin Emperor, with the support of the usual sycophantic and boring crowd. Regarding the current debate: Disagreement is inherent in every human group. Freedom of expression is a right enshrined in Article 54 of our Constitution. Here, anyone can talk, say, and contradict themselves about the government and its administration. Anyone who walks our streets knows that this is normal: where there are two Cubans, there are three different opinions. But it is quite another thing to call for a military invasion, to call for the death of my friends, family, acquaintances, and loved ones. In that case, you become my enemy. We Cubans are facing a war.” asymmetrical opposition against a globally stronger enemy. Cuba has the right to defend itself.”
