Cuba reiterates solidarity with Venezuela in the face of U.S. threats and aggression

by Ed Newman

As part of the global day of solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba today reiterated its strongest condemnation of the military deployment in the Caribbean and the growing threats from the United States against the Latin American nation in a massive public event on Saturday.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Teresa Amarelle Boué, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), both members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), presided over the demonstration of firm support for the Bolivarian Revolution, its people, and the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros.

In her address, Amarelle Boué reiterated that Cuba condemns the threats of aggression and the use of military force against Venezuela, as well as the deployment of U.S. forces in the Caribbean, an unacceptable provocation and blatant intimidation of the region’s proclamation as a Zone of Peace, she emphasized.

She reaffirmed that Cuba rejects aggression against any country in Latin America and the Caribbean, stating, “We don’t want any more destruction. Peace is not just an aspiration; it is a commitment to struggle.”

She denounced the economic blockade as a cowardly attack against the well-being of Venezuelan families, adding that the Cuban people are also victims of this genocidal policy, but that the capacity of nations to resist is underestimated, she stressed.

Amarelle Boué described the U.S. government’s attempts to link Venezuela to drug trafficking as absurd pretexts and lies, stating that “this only exists in the imperialist imagination.”

The head of the national women’s organization reiterated Cuba’s unwavering solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic and emphasized: “Faced with the shadows of aggression they seek to spread across the Caribbean, let us remember that unity is our stronghold.”

At the event, Venezuelan Ambassador Orlando Maneiro Gaspar conveyed President Maduro’s greetings, thanked Cuba for its support, and condemned the increase in U.S. threats. “The Venezuelan people continue to develop steadily, but always vigilant, united, and prepared for any aggression,” he asserted.

Faced with U.S. aggression, Venezuela and Cuba have remained steadfast, will continue to advance as sister nations, and will never surrender their sovereignty, he affirmed.

At this solidarity rally, held in front of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Dr. Iramis Rodríguez, who collaborated with the Bolivarian Republic, condemned the military escalation, the falsehoods, and the destabilizing actions against that nation and reiterated her support for its people.
