Cuba rejects Israeli aggression against Somalia’s sovereignty

by Ed Newman

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has rejected Israel’s unilateral action against the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia in a message posted on social media.

Bruno Rodríguez joined the pronouncement of the African Union and other regional organizations, warning that this aggression “generates regional and international instability” and “could have profound implications for peace.”

Cuba’s Foreign Minister denounced Israel’s “double standards,” which “continue to prevent the recognition of Palestine as an independent state” while violating the right of other peoples to their territorial integrity.

He also reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, International Law, and respect for the principles of the Constitutive Act of the African Union, “particularly the inviolability of the borders inherited upon achieving independence.”
