Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) condemns Trump’s order and calls it genocidal

The Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) on Saturday condemned the latest aggression by the U.S. administration, through President Donald Trump’s executive order that seeks a total blockade on oil imports.

In an official statement, the organization, which brings together more than 110 entities of Cuban civil society, described the measure as a “new instrument of the blockade” intended to confuse international public opinion with “false arguments” about the Cuban government’s actions.

The ACNU reaffirmed its commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and rejected “this new and blatant aggression by the U.S. government against the sovereignty and independence of Cuba, its people, society, and economy.”

The statement strongly condemned “the objective of the executive order to subdue our population through hunger, disease, shortages, and lack of basic services,” thus reinforcing “the criminal nature of the longest and most cruel blockade in history.”

It further denounced that the executive order “fully corresponds to the definition of genocide” according to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948.

“It is undeniable that, with this decision, an attempt is being made to subject us to living conditions that could lead to the death of many of our compatriots,” the text stated.

The ACNU defended “the right of Cubans to live in peace, to be in solidarity, happy, resilient, resistant, and spiritual, to live in the political, economic, and social system that we have freely chosen, in the full exercise of self-determination.”

Furthermore, he called upon the American people, the governments of the world, the United Nations, and the entire international community “to unite to stop the implementation of this executive order and defend the right to life of the Cuban people.”
