Cuban Baseball Season Games Suspended Due to Hurricane

Havana, October 25 (RHC) — The National Baseball Commission announced today the suspension of the Cuban championship games scheduled for October 28, 29, and 30, due to the forecasts surrounding Hurricane Melissa.

The scheduled games for those days were Pinar del Río-Industriales, La Isla-Artemisa, Mayabeque-Sancti Spíritus, Cienfuegos-Matanzas, Ciego de Ávila-Holguín, Villa Clara-Camagüey, Las Tunas-Guantánamo, and Granma-Santiago de Cuba.

The statement clarifies that these games will be made up during the short sub-series scheduled for December 16-21.

Regarding the All-Star Game, scheduled for November 1-2 in Holguín, the statement emphasizes that the final decision will be announced after evaluations following the passage of the meteorological phenomenon.

The baseball season played a long 10-game day this Saturday, with Matanzas holding the lead in the standings with a record of 26 wins and 13 losses, followed by Holguín (25-14), Las Tunas (22-13), Industriales (23-14), Artemisa (22-15), Santiago de Cuba (21-16), and rounding out the playoff qualifying zone are Sancti Spíritus and Mayabeque (21-18).

Then come Cienfuegos (18-17), Granma (18-18), Pinar del Río (17-19), Camagüey (17-22), Ciego de Ávila (13-17), Villa Clara (9-20), Guantánamo (11-28), and La Isla (8-30).
