Havana, September 28 (RHC) – After defeating the world number one yesterday, the Cuban duo of Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo defeated the Dutch team Boermans and De Groot 2-1 in the semifinals today, securing a medal in the tournament.
Yesterday, the Cubans delivered a historic victory over Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sørum (23-21, 19-21, 5-15), showing grit and composure to come from behind and advance to this stage, defeating the toughest opponent on the 2025 tour.
This Sunday against the Dutch, the Antilleans initially fell 15-21, but rallied in the second set 21-18 and dominated the third 19-17, taking advantage of opponents’ errors (21-13) and demonstrating great concentration and mental strength. In the final, they will face the Cherif/Ahmed duo of Qatar.
