Havana, November 6 (RHC) – Olympic king Erislandy Alvarez and three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez will seek to retain their World Boxing Association (WBA) belts on the 29th of this month at the Meliá Internacional Hotel in Varadero.
Both boxers are undefeated and will face Mexican fighters. Erislandy (63.5 kg) will fight Rogelio Jiménez, and Lázaro (61.3 kg) will face Raúl Hernández.
In bouts scheduled for 10 rounds, the Paris 2024 champion, with a record of five wins, will step into the ring for the second defense of his WBA Latin Continental title against an opponent with 14 wins, two draws, and one loss.
Meanwhile, the multi-medalist Lázaro Álvarez, with nine wins, will face a boxer with 15 wins, three draws, and two losses.
On the card, Yunier Sorsano (69.8 kg) will attempt to secure his second victory in an eight-round bout against Argentinian Nicolás Verón (1-14-1), following his first-round knockout debut against Mexican Javier Castañeda in a fight held in mid-September in Berlin.
The boxing event also features five six-round bouts and the debuts of Cuban boxers Saidel Horta (51.7 kg), Alejandro Claro (50.8 kg), Nelson Williams (90.7 kg), and Keylor García (79.3 kg).
The event will include two bouts featuring international fighters: Moroccan Moussa Gholam and Mexican Ramiro Cesena will fight a ten-round bout for the Americas Continental Gold Belt, while German Malek Semmo will face Venezuelan Julio Pérez in a six-round contest.
