Havana, September 12 (RHC) – Cuban Alejandro Claro advanced to the semifinals of the 50-kilogram division of the 2025 Liverpool World Boxing Championships after defeating Turkey’s Samet Gumus today.
The Caribbean native submitted his opponent by a 3-2 judges’ decision and secured—at least—the bronze medal in the competition.
In his next match, in the semifinals, Claro will face the winner of the duel between India’s Jadumani Singh Mandengbam and Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay.
Also this Friday, in the women’s 48-kilogram quarterfinals, Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay defeated Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota, and Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova defeated Italy’s Giovanna Marchese.
Likewise, India’s Minakshi defeated Britain’s Alice Pumphrey, and Mongolia’s Altantsetseg defeated Japan’s Hikaru Shinohara.
This World Championship will be held at the Liverpool Arena from September 4 to 14, organized by World Boxing and the British Boxing Federation.
