Cuban foreign minister visits Vietnam as special envoy

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Minister of Foreign Affairs, began a program of activities during his visit to Vietnam as a special envoy of the Cuban political organization and government.

The Cuban Foreign Minister reported this in a message on the social network X, where he highlighted the official talks he held with his counterpart, Le Hoai Trung, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

“I held official talks with the Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Foreign Minister, Comrade Le Hoai Trung, as part of my visit to this sister nation, in my capacity as Special Envoy of the Party and Government of Cuba.”

Bruno Rodríguez specified that during the meeting, both sides discussed the international situation and its impact on Latin America and the Caribbean.

The head of Cuban diplomacy thanked his Vietnamese counterpart for the involvement of that country’s Foreign Ministry in achieving the consensus reached between the leaders of the two nations.

In 1960, Cuba became the first nation in the Americas to recognize the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, providing assistance in the form of food, medicine, medical personnel, military support, and infrastructure construction.

For 65 years, diplomatic relations between Cuba and Vietnam have been characterized by fraternal ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation.

Among the most recent examples of this close relationship is the national fundraising campaign launched in Vietnam by the Red Cross, which raised over $15.2 million to support Cuba amid its economic challenges.
