Havana, September 27 (RHC) – Today, Cuban Raidel Martínez reached 45 saves in the regular season of the Japanese Baseball League, closing out the Yomiuri Giants’ 9-8 victory over the DeNA Stars.
Martínez allowed a scoreless hit in one inning of relief to lower his ERA to 1.16 and retain his Central League save lead, tied with Shinya Matsuyama of the Chunichi Dragons.
With three games remaining on the schedule, the 28-year-old Cuban earned his 15th save in 15 outings.
For the Stars, Cuban Dayán Viciedo went scoreless in three appearances, drew a walk, drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and now has a .263 average.
