Cuban president attends Anti-Imperialist Youth Parade

by Ed Newman

Children, teenagers and young adults took to the streets this Thursday morning for an Anti-Imperialist Youth Parade, under the slogan “Here with Fidel,” which was attended by President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

During the event, Alan Díaz Maceo, an eighth-grade student at the Rubén Bravo Secondary School, stated that they were born under the U.S. blockade, “the most criminal in history.”

He emphasized that we are now also suffering from fuel shortages because we lack electricity for efficient participation in classes and for completing homework afterward.

The First Secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), Meybis Estévez, noted that the blockade affects the care of children in pediatric hospitals, which further exemplifies the definition of genocide.

The UJC leader emphasized that Cuban youth will never betray the legacy and history of the Revolution, nor their commitment to continue fighting for a better country, free from the blockade.

The parade concluded with a rolling procession along Havana’s Malecón, from Avenida de los Presidentes to Parque 13 de Marzo.

Similar events took place in every province of the country.    The activities are part of the celebrations commemorating the 65th anniversary of the José Martí Pioneer Organization and the 64th anniversary of the Young Communist League (UJC).
