Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, spoke on Friday with representatives of more than 70 Chinese companies interested in strengthening their commercial ties with the island.
A thread on the social network X of the Cuban Presidency confirms that the meeting is part of the president’s official agenda in Guangdong Province, China.
During the meeting, Díaz-Canel highlighted the broad prospects for business relations between the two countries, acknowledged significant progress, and stressed that much remains to be done to achieve the full potential of cooperation.
“Cuba is open to all proposals,” he affirmed, while inviting Chinese business leaders to continue contributing to national economic development in the short, medium and long term.

And Diaz-Canel praised President Xi Jinping’s strategic vision and reaffirmed Cuba’s support for the global initiatives promoted by the Asian giant.
The meeting in Shenzhen is part of Díaz-Canel’s official visit to the city, where he arrived from Beijing. He held talks with his Chinese counterpart, participated in the Victory Day military parade, and co-chaired the commemorative event for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Cuban president was accompanied by several members of the Council of Ministers, including Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines; Mayra Arevich Marín, Minister of Communications; and José Ángel Portal Miranda, Minister of Public Health.
The president’s agenda also includes visits to technology parks, historical sites, and innovation centers, demonstrating Cuba’s interest in expanding cooperation in key sectors such as food production, energy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
