Havana, October 14 (RHC) – Some 160 foreign speakers are expected at the upcoming XI International Convention on Physical Activity and Sports Afide 2025, which continues its preparations today.
At a press conference, Mélix Ilisástigui, Director of Science, Technology, and Environment at the Cuban Sports Institute (Inder), reported that half of the participants have already confirmed their attendance.
So far, representatives from 16 countries have requested to attend the event, which will be held at the Havana Convention Center from November 10 to 14.
In total, approximately 600 attendees are expected, including speakers, delegates, and guests, under the theme “Science to Win.”
The President of the World Council of University Academics (Comau), Orlando Terré, reaffirmed the importance of this event for the organization he leads and stated that it is the most important event for sports and science in Latin America.
As part of the conclave, the José Yáñez Ordaz Annual Science Prize, INDER’s highest recognition in the scientific field, will be awarded, while COMAU will present the Eureka Prize, recognizing outstanding projects.
