Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized on Monday that Cubans residing in the United States, persecuted by the current immigration policy, have been betrayed by those who previously encouraged them, with privileges, to leave their country.
Through the social network X, the island’s top diplomat pointed out that his compatriots in the United States not only face the risk of being arbitrarily deported: now they face the threat of losing or having their bank accounts frozen.
Bruno Rodríguez’s message points to figures in the political life of that country who encouraged Cubans to migrate, and now “have turned their backs on their constituents in exchange for influence, political favors and money.”
After years of encouraging irregular migration, with preferential treatment for Cubans, the U.S.S government has exponentially limited those privileges, and today people from Cuba suffer the same uncertainty as other migrants in that country.
