Havana, October 26 (RHC) – Cubans Daniela Darriba and Wendy Durán climbed the podium at the First 30-meter Fronton Nations League, held in Aguascalientes, Mexico, after winning the bronze medal in the frontenis doubles event.
The Cuban pair dominated Chileans Natalia Bozzo and Magdalena Muñoz 2-0 (15-9 and 15-14) in a hard-fought match held at the Club Campestre in the Mexican city.
The women’s victory added to the qualification of the men’s frontenis doubles team to the 2026 Venado Tuerto Absolute World Pelota Vasca Championship in Argentina.
Alejandro González and Yoan Martínez finished in sixth place, securing their spot. Duran and Darriba had previously secured their spot as a pair in the frontenis event, and Darriba had also secured a spot in the rubber pelota championship.
After these results, Cuba left the tournament with the goal of securing at least a spot in one of the two events overachieved.
The 30-meter Fronton Nations League concluded with the gold medal matches scheduled for the evening.
Spain and Mexico emerged as the main protagonists of the competition, reaching the finals for each gender in both events.
