The Cuban Council of State conducted a detailed evaluation of the Government Program to correct distortions and revitalize the economy, in an ordinary session chaired by Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of that body, with the attendance of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, reports the Granma newspaper.

Marrero Cruz reported on the preliminary summary of the public consultation, in which approximately 76,172 meetings were held and 140,348 proposals were received.

He indicated that the final proposed update will be reviewed again with the Council of State, the Council of Ministers, governors, and the economic commissions of the Central Committee of the Party and the National Assembly of People’s Power before its publication.

The meeting also focused on the implementation of the agreements adopted by the National Assembly of People’s Power regarding the Economic Plan and the State Budget.

The Prime Minister added that since the previous session, work has been underway on approving government directives to address fuel shortages.

In explaining several actions taken in this regard, he emphasized that the objective is to guarantee the country’s vitality without sacrificing development, minimize the impact of these measures on the population, and enhance the use of endogenous resources, diversifying the ways to generate foreign currency.

During the discussion, Díaz-Canel stressed the importance of strengthening community work, participation, and popular oversight in neighborhoods, boosting social programs, and seeking solutions through unity and collective contributions.

Subsequently, the members of the Council of State evaluated the performance of the permanent working committees of the National Assembly and the results of the Population Assistance activity in its Auxiliary Offices.
